History
Rusinga
Island is approximately 10 miles "16 km" wide and 3 miles "5
km" at its widest point lying in the eastern part of Lake Victoria at the
mouth of the Winam Gulf. It is known as the family burial site of Tom Mboya
expected to be Jomo Kenyatta's successor as President of the new nation of
Kenya after his assassination in 1969.
Materials
This
island is known for its extraordinary rich and important fossil beds of extinct
Miocene mammals dated almost 18 million years. It has exotic trees which are
home for a bird species many of which are unique in Kenya. The grounds can also
be used as expedition areas.
Hospitality
There
are delicious home grown cooked food and comfortable accommodation with ideal
base from which to explore other areas of East Africa. There are also exotic
trees housing diverse bird species many of which are unique to this area.
